LUBBOCK (AP) - Craig McFerrin scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead McNeese State to an 80-75 win over Texas Tech Sunday night.
Kevin Hardy and Ledrick Eackles added 13 points apiece for the Cowboys (6-3), who won for the first time in 10 tries against a current member of the Big 12.
Jaye Crockett led the Red Raiders with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Josh Gray scored 15 points and recorded three steals, while Trency Jackson and Dejan Kravic each added 11 points for the Red Raiders (5-2).
Crockett's layup with 48 seconds remaining brought Texas Tech within one, but free throws by Eackles and Hardy sealed it for McNeese State. The Cowboys have won five in a row.
The Red Raiders built a 10-point lead in the first half but the Mustangs closed within two before Texas Tech led 37-32 at the half. Eackles' 3-pointer with 7:02 to play gave McNeese the lead for good.
Eackles, who played 18 minutes in a reserve role, scored all 13 of his points in the second half, hitting all three of his 3-point attempts and making both free-throw tries in the final minute.
McNeese State changed their offensive game plan at halftime, which helped them find holes in Tech's press defense. The Cowboys shot over 57 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free-throw line in the second half.
The Cowboys also controlled the boards in the second half, 19-11, to finish with a 35-28 rebounding edge.
Desharick Guidry scored 12 points and grabbed six boards for the Cowboys.
McNeese State capitalized on 17 second-chance points, 10 in the second half, compared to Texas Tech's total of 12.
Gray and Kravic each contributed three steals for the Red Raiders' total of 14, which translated into 22 points compared to the Cowboys' six.
Texas Tech made only one 3-pointer in the second half -- by Jackson a minute into the half. The Red Raiders missed all nine of their 3-point attempts the rest of the way.
