Texas Teams Picked For NCAA Baseball Tourney

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Rice, Sam Houston State, UTSA and Texas A&M were selected to the opening round of the NCAA Baseball Tournament.

The Texas A&M 'Aggies' (No. 2 seed) will face the UC Santa Barbara 'Gouchos' (No. 3 seed) in the Corvallis, Oregon Regional. The Gauchos finished second in the Big West Conference behind the impressive arm of sophomore pitcher Austin Pettibone (9-3, 3.11) who the Aggies will likely face on Friday.

For the Aggies, this marks the seventh straight season that Rob Childress' club will be in the postseason.

UTSA (No. 4 seed) takes on Oregon State also in the Corvallis Regional.

Rice (No. 2 seed) plays San Francisco (No. 3 seed) in the Eugene, Oregon Regional.

Sam Houston (No. 3 seed) will face Louisiana Lafayette in the Baton Rouge Regional.

BIG 12 tourney champ Oklahoma (No. 2 seed in Blacksburg Regional) and Oklahoma State (No. 3 seed in Louisville Regional) are also going to the tournament.
