AMARILLO (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — Two Michigan women were arrested in Texas and accused of trying to smuggle $716,000 worth of marijuana from Arizona.
The Texas Department of Public Safety on Tuesday announced the seizure of about 118 pounds of marijuana near Amarillo.
A trooper on Monday afternoon stopped an eastbound car on Interstate 40. DPS didn't immediately say led to the stop or what prompted the trooper to search the car, finding bundles of marijuana in the trunk.
Potter County jail records show Teuta Hajdini of Dearborn, Michigan, and Adelina Dedvukai of Farmington Hills, Michigan, were being held without bond Tuesday. They're charged with felony possession and delivery of marijuana. Investigators believe the pot was being hauled from Tempe, Arizona, to Dearborn.
Online jail records don't list attorneys to speak for the women.
