Texas Soccer Player Talks About His Game-Tying, Flip Goal

MCKINNEY (CBS 11 NEWS) - A six-second video captured a North Texas athlete's incredible soccer goal. Since Tuesday night that video has been looped millions of times and posted on numerous national sports blogs.
He's practiced the move, but he's never had this kind of success with it, and it wasn't until he heard the roar of the crowd that Michael Lewis realized his flip move had scored the game-tying goal.
"That got me excited 'cause that was my first goal this season, so now I can build on that," Lewis said.
Call it amazing. Call it spectacular. Just don't call it a fluke. Lewis showed us his technique repeatedly on McKinney Boyd High School's practice field. So just how difficult is the move? We asked his coach.
"I assume it's very difficult. I couldn't do it," Coach Casey Osborn said.
Lewis has a special edge. The high school junior has been playing soccer since he was five, but at three he was already learning gymnastics.
After a fellow student posted the video of the goal online, Lewis's move went viral. Now he hopes the attention will benefit the whole team.
"Hopefully it will help bring people to our games, so help support us," Lewis said.
Despite all the attention, the team had light practice indoors Wednesday. Lewis and his coach say their main focus now is Friday's game against Allen High School.
