Texas Player Doniak Critical After Hit-And-Run
AUSTIN (AP) - Texas soccer player Kylie Doniak was in critical condition Friday after being struck by a car in downtown Austin, Texas.
Police say Doniak was in a group crossing the street shortly after 2 a.m. Friday when a car ran a stop light. Police spokeswoman Veneza Aguinaga said the car sped away, but eventually pulled over and the driver was restrained by a witness until police could arrive.
Doniak, a senior, was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge, where a spokeswoman says she remains in critical condition. A male and female with Doniak were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the driver faces one count of intoxication assault and two counts of failure to stop and render aid.
