AUSTIN (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - Texas Parks & Wildlife is launching a campaign to promote water conservation this summer.

Country-rock musician Kevin Fowler donated his time to make a 30 second video that will begin airing across the state on Tuesday.

The campaign called "Take Care of Texas" will promote outdoor recreation while asking all Texans to conserve water and other natural resources.

Texas is experiencing a major drought across most of the state and some areas are expecting a hot, dry summer. The Texas Legislature also recently passed legislation to set up a $2 billion water development fund. Voters will make the final decision on the program in November.

Strict water restrictions have already started in many cities across DFW as the North Texas Municipal Water District looks to reduce area water use by 10 percent.

Lawmakers also boosted spending for state parks, which should keep them open for the next two years.
