Texas First Lady Uninjured In Accident
AUSTIN (AP) - Texas First Lady Anita Perry was uninjured when the right engine of a World War II era plane in which she was riding caught fire while taxiing for takeoff.
A statement from Gov. Rick Perry's office says emergency crews immediately responded and extinguished the flames.
About 1 p.m. Saturday, Anita Perry and two executive protection bureau agents were award a B-25 taxiing for takeoff at the Jardin Ranch, north of Laredo. The vintage bomber was performing at a small air show in Encinal.
The aircraft had a landing gear malfunction while taxiing. When the aircraft reached the end of the runway, the front landing collapsed, causing the right engine to catch fire.
