Texas Educator Back On Job, Cleared Of Abuse Claims

HOUSTON (AP) - A Houston educator has returned to work after school district police found he did not abuse four students who alleged they were hit.

Sharpstown High School Principal Rob Gasparello was reassigned after four boys complained last week. Gasparello was reinstated Monday.

A Houston Independent School District statement says police found no evidence to substantiate the criminal allegations. Gasparello denied being alone with the boys or striking them.

The students complained to district police and to the League of United Latin American Citizens. LULAC said the students speak Spanish and have limited English skills.

Gasparello in 2013 was removed from his duties as Sharpstown High School while facing criminal charges of failure to report suspected child abuse. Prosecutors last October dropped the charges related to treatment of students by a teacher.
