Texas Death Row Inmate Seeks Appeal End, Execution
WACO (AP) – A man on death row for a 2003 drug-related killing in Waco is asking to end his appeals and proceed to his execution.
Carroll Joe Parr is condemned for the robbery and killing of Joel Dominguez. The Waco Tribune-Herald reports the 34-year-old inmate has written to state District Judge Matt Johnson of Waco to ask how to end his appeals. The letter says he wants to end his suffering and doesn't want to waste taxpayer's money.
Parr's attorney, Stan Schwieger, told the newspaper that he was unaware of his client's letter. However, he says that if Parr persuades him to drop his appeal, he'll notify the state's attorneys opposing Parr's appeal.
The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Parr's appeal last week. No execution date has been set.
