Texas Cities Reimbursed Millions For Super Bowl

DALLAS (AP) – Four North Texas cities that helped with the Super Bowl are being reimbursed millions from a state fund.

Arlington, Dallas, Fort Worth and Irving thoroughly documented every expense -- some as little as a dollar for art tape.

But they often didn't explain why the purchases were needed or how they related to the Feb. 6 Super Bowl at Cowboys Stadium.

That's according to thousands of pages of receipts released to The Dallas Morning News.

The state agency that operates the Major Events Trust Fund asked that cities supply invoices, purchase orders and expense reports.

But the cities weren't required to justify the purchases. The agency says it's familiar with spending for such events.

Most of the first $6.8 million was spent on police and fire department salaries.
