COLLEYVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) — Among the photos from Laura Lucart's semester abroad will be the some of the Eiffel Tower and others she snapped while running for her life.

Lucart was inside the stadium where the first explosions of the attacks in Paris that killed at least 130 were heard.

"It's just been hard to explain this to people... to say how my life was spared and how close I actually came to death," Lucart, who is still in Paris, told her family, who let CBS11 sit in on their chat.

Lucart is a senior at Texas A&M hailing from Colleyville. She's spending the semester studying abroad in Paris.

She said she didn't think much of the explosions at first.

"We thought it was part of the game," Lucart said. "We thought it was some canons that went off... just some people having fun."

Then she was running with the panicked crowds.

"In a few fleeting moments my whole outlook changed," Lucart said. "And I thought to myself, 'I could die here. I could really die."

She snapped a few pictures in a rush to safety, when she saw the gravity of her situation first-hand.

"Getting close to Bastille we saw about 20 to 30 people dead in the street with sheets over them," Lucart said. "We saw their loved one's crying and screaming. It was very, very disturbing."

Her parents said they're nervous every day. To her mom, Lucart is still her pageant girl: fun-loving and adventurous. She hopes that girl is the one who returns after living through this.

Lucart is still wrapping up her classes. She said she's ready to come home.

"I'm certain about leaving the country," Lucart said. "I've canceled all of my plans. All we can really do now is... I'm counting down the days to when I can go back to America."
