Texas A&M Deciding On QB
COLLEGE STATION (AP) - Texas A&M is entering a new conference with a new coach. At some point, the Aggies will have a new quarterback, too.
As Texas A&M prepares for its first season in the Southeastern Conference under former Houston coach Kevin Sumlin, the biggest question is who will replace Ryan Tannehill, the eighth overall pick in this year's NFL draft.
The top three options to run Sumlin's high-powered offense are sophomores Jameill Showers and Matt Joeckel or redshirt freshman Johnny Manziel.
Sumlin says the competition is "wide open'' and he'll name a starter when someone has "clearly surfaced.''
The Aggies open the season at Louisiana Tech on Aug. 30 and make their SEC debut at home on Sept. 8 against Florida.
