Texan Accused Of Setting Sleeping Roommate On Fire
LONGVIEW (AP) - Police say an East Texas man has been charged with using lighter fluid to set his sleeping roommate on fire after an argument.
Gregg County Jail records show Jeremy Kellum of Longview was being held Wednesday on a charge of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. No attorney was listed for Kellum, whose bond was set at $250,000.
Longview police say the men argued before Raymond Hellwig on Saturday suffered second-degree leg burns after lighter fluid was put on his pants and set ablaze.
Hellwig was taken to a Longview hospital, then transferred to the burn unit of Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. A Parkland spokeswoman says Hellwig was in fair condition Wednesday.
Police didn't immediately release further details on why the men argued.
