MESQUITE (CBSDFW.COM) - Two teenage boys wearing hoodies robbed a Sonic waitress just before noon Thursday at 4617 Gus Thomasson Road, according to Mesquite Police.
Police say the teens placed their order and waited for the waitress to bring their food. When she did, police say one of the teens pulled out a gun and demanded her money.
The waitress gave them her apron which contained the money and the two boys ran off.
Police say the store manager and another worker chased the teens andwsaw them go into someone's backyard in the 3500 block of Gayle Dr.
Officers arrived on scene and found the pair hiding behind the house.
Officers also recovered the stolen apron and a handgun.
Both teens were taken into custody and have been charged with aggravated robbery.
There was a similar crime earlier this month nearby where suspects shot a Sonic employee.
No word on if those crimes are related.
