Teenager Dies In Early Morning Crash

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (AP) -- One teenager was killed and another was in critical condition after an early morning crash.

Authorities say the accident occurred about 5:40 a.m. Saturday when a 1994 Lexus sedan traveling west on Interstate 20 drifted off the roadway, went airborne and crashed into Fish Creek, which crosses under the freeway.

Eighteen-year-old passenger Cornelius Towns of DeSoto, a senior at Cedar Hill High School, was airlifted to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, where he died. Another 18 year old, Darkori Jovaughn Murphy of Grand Prairie, was in critical condition at Baylor University Medical Center. Murphy is also a senior at Cedar Hill.

The driver, 19-year-old Evan Thomas Williams of Cedar Hill, was treated at Parkland for injuries not believed to be life-threatening. He is a former student.
