Family: Drive-By Due To Facebook Fight
Updated 8/8/12 - 5:15 p.m.
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A teenager was wounded during a drive-by shooting early Wednesday morning. The incident happened around 2:35 a.m. at a home in the 5700 block of Bellcrest Drive, near the intersection of Black Oak Drive, in the east Oak Cliff area of Dallas.
According to the Dallas Police Department, the 16-year-old girl was in a front bedroom of the home when at least eight gunshots were fired from a passing vehicle. The teenager was struck in the stomach.
Six people were inside of the home during the incident, police said, including three other children and their parents. Two younger boys were awake and playing video games when shots were fired, but nobody else was injured. None of the family members saw or heard the suspects or the vehicle, so they were unable to identify who the shooter or shooters may have been.
Police are not sure if the victim was the intended target or not. While there were no threats against the family, the family says the teen got into a fight with other teenage girls over a facebook post Tuesday.
Family members said that it escalated when the teens came over to the home. The family thinks that those people came back with a gun.
"We had to call 911 'cause my baby ended up getting shot over something stupid over the internet," Tanya Johnson, the girl's mother, told CBS 11.

"She's okay," said Jasmine Johnson, the victim's sister, fighting back tears. "We didn't know they was going to come back and retaliate like that, and do that. We didn't know they would come back and shoot our house up like that. It was wrong."
The teen was taken to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. She is said to be recovering following surgery.
At this point, no arrests have been made in the case.
