'Technical Issues' Caused Travel Delays For American Airlines

The ground stop for American Airlines flights has been lifted. American air tells KRLD the issue was not tied to the new operations center in Fort Worth.
The airline told customers via Twitter: "We've resolved connectivity issues that caused challenges at DFW, ORD, and MIA. We're sorry and will have you on your way soon."
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - An unspecified technical issue involving American Airlines appears to be affecting flights across the nation according to social media reports by the airline and a note on the FAA web site.
According to reports, there is a ground stop for all American airlines flights departing for DFW International Airport, Chicago O'Hare and Miami until at least 1:30pm (central).

A statement from the airline says, "We're working to resolve technical issues impacting several airports as quickly as possible. We will provide updates and more information as they become available. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience."
The airline is responding to many customers on twitter apologizing for the inconvenience.

The outage comes at an awkward time for American Airline Group Inc., the world's biggest airline. In less than a month, the company plans to complete combining the reservations systems of American and its US Airways subsidiary and retiring the US Airways brand.
Combining technology systems is a difficult feat that has tripped up other airlines, notably leading to several outages at United Airlines after it merged with Continental Airlines in 2010. United suffered two major outages this summer.
American has made meticulous plans to avoid a similar fate. Among other moves, it will reduce flights to lighten the load on its network while it combines the two reservations systems.
