NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Organizers sold out of "Team Pearce" t-shirts less than an hour into a fundraiser spanning across North Texas at area Chick-fil-A restaurants.
"Yeah, I don't even have any words," said organizer Sharri Aaron. "It's so exciting to see the people turn out."
The shirts sold for $10 a pop at more than 20 Chick-fil-A locations. Volunteers said they couldn't believe the turnout.
"It got out on the internet and the media, and it just blossomed," said volunteer Jeff Rigdon.
Most Chick-fil-A locations added to the donation total by giving 20% of sales from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. to Pearce's family.
"I think, the more the merrier," said Mansfield resident Matt Harrison. "Everybody should rally around your police and fire."
T-shirts are still available for order online at ftwmetro.org
