Teacher In Hot Water For Relationship With Student

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A former teacher is out of jail and out of a job as she faces charges of sexual assault of a child.

The teacher, Jennifer Riojas, was a 9th grade science teacher at Carter Riverside High School in Fort Worth until resigning last month.

And while an alleged inappropriate relationship may have just now surfaced in the public eye, students at the school say they have been suspicious for some time.

The investigation began a month ago into allegations that the teacher and a male student were having sex.

Police say the student has admitted to the relationship and says it began last year when he was a 16-year-old sophomore.

He told police their encounters took place in motels around North Richland Hills and even once in a hospital bed where the student was recovering from a football injury.

Former students like Micheal Webb who know both the teacher and the alleged victim say they noticed the pair spending an unusual amount of time together.
"In my last year of class he would walk in and talk to her a lot. I never really knew anything was going on though at all."

A police affidavit says the teacher attended the boy's athletic events, and they would spend time together during lunch period.
