TEA Says Fort Worth School Owes State $18,000

FORT WORTH (KRLD) - The Texas Education Agency has been investigating Arlington Heights High School for about a year. Now there are reports the Fort Worth ISD school over-reported attendance numbers.

Since state funding is based on the number of students in school each day, the district will have to reimburse the state some $18,000.

Fort Worth administrators say the call for a refund is unjust and that the days in question were in May of 2010 when many students were taking state exams.

Administrators say student not taking tests were sent from their homerooms to wait in other areas; such as the gym or auditorium.

The district insists the students were, in fact, at school on the days in question but were simply not counted.
