Symbol Of Hate Greets Jewish TCU Student

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Dalton Barlow's got a new view.
The TCU freshman decided to move out of his first semester dorm at Moncreif Hall following an ugly sight. While walking up to his room on the 3rd floor coming back from the laundry room he noticed five felt Stars of David stuck on the wall.
"There was one right outside my room. My doorway was decorated for the holiday for Hanukkah," said Barlow
In all, 5 stars-made out of yellow felt-leading right up to his door.
Barlow says it looked as if someone had attached them to the wall using a hot glue gun.
"It certainly is intimidating that kind of thing. It's a symbol of hatred," says Barlow.
Stars of David, often yellow in color were used by the Nazi's to identity those of the Jewish faith during the Holocaust.
Barlow says he is the only Jewish student in his hall.
"Even if it was a joke it's not acceptable and it's not funny. And we can't let stuff like this happen."
The TCU freshman says he's experienced antisemitism before. His car was vandalized when he was in high school.
"It had been spray-painted with swastikas."
But this happened at an educational institution that he loves.
"That's more what's shocking that something like this happened in such an open and accepting community."
He's felt supported by both staff and students and says campus police are investigating this as a possible hate crime.
"It made me love my university more because I really did feel through this that if something like this happens it won't be tolerated it won't be just swept under the rug.
