SWAT Arrests Man Making Threats With Samurai Sword

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Fort Worth police received a call that a person was threatening two women and child, with something similar to a Samurai Sword.

The woman told police her ex-boyfriend had broken her south Fort Worth house, in the 3200 block of Jennings, by busting out a window.

Police say the woman grabbed her six-year-old-year old son and along with her sister barricaded themselves in a back bedroom.

"Our victims, fearing for their lives, ran out the back of the residence and called for police."

Police and ultimately a SWAT team surrounded the house.

"We believed him to be highly intoxicated," Fort worth police Sergeant Pedro Criado explained. "She [911 caller/ex-girlfriend of suspect] did observe him to have a sword in his hand."

After more than four hours of several hours of negotiation, police went inside the house and suspect in a closet.

The man was taken to the Tarrant County Jail.

Police say the suspect, whose name has not been released, is wanted for at least three other felonies -- all domestic offenses.
