SUV Crashes Into Apartment Building In Dallas Shooting
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- The driver of an SUV lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a north Dallas apartment building overnight after a man in the vehicle was shot.
Dallas Police are investigating the incident, which occurred at the Santa Fe Trail Apartment complex on Ridgecrest Road, just south of Park Lane. Police say the men were in the building's parking lot when gunfire erupted. When they accelerated to flee the shooting, the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck the building.
The shooting victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.
The SUV entered the apartment building on the ground level, plowing through the living room of a family of four. No one in the apartment was injured.
"It was 4 o'clock in the morning, and we were really sleeping," said Jolisette Bamanga, one of the residents of the apartment. "Then I hear the really loud noise and I ran into my parents room to see what was going on. Then my parents were screaming, 'they're here to kill us. They're here to kill us!'"
Police are now searching for the unknown shooter, who fled the scene.
