ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) -  The Arlington Fire Department used a water cannon to blow apart what it called a "homemade explosive device" found in the trunk of a vehicle belonging to a narcotics suspect arrested Wednesday night at a QuikTrip not far from AT&T Stadium.

The device was found after the suspect allowed police to check his car, which was pulled into the convenience store located on East Division Street.

Officers arrested a man as part of a narcotics investigation and when they were completing an inventory of the car, they located a suspicious device in the trunk, according to Arlington Police spokesperson Christopher Cook.

Out of an abundance of caution, the QuikTrip was temporarily evacuated while the situation was evaluated.

A robot was sent in to look at the device, which was then hit with the water cannon and rendered harmless.

No one was hurt.

The store has since reopened for business.

The name of the suspect has not been released.
