Suspected Drunk Driver Breaks RR Crossing Arm, Roads Closed

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Arlington say a suspected drunk driver hit a railroad crossing and broke the crossing arm just before midnight. This morning crews are working feverishly to repair the damage, but some lanes in the area remain closed.
Union Pacific crews have been working for hours, sometimes in pouring rain, to repair the crossing arm at Collins and Abram Streets.
Officials with the Arlington Police Department say officers will regulate traffic until the track crossing is safe again.
Despite the crossing arm damage and the rain, trains are rolling through the area every 20 or 30 minutes. As it stands, police are only diverting some trains and say they are controlling the flow of others.
Police cars are blocking the northbound vehicle lanes, but the southbound lanes remain open on Collins Street. As rush-hour approaches and traffic in the area picks up, police say those closures could change.
Officials did say they'll have officers on the scene to help with traffic until the crossing is completely repaired.
As it stands, officials say the damage is significant and may take at least through rush hour to repair.

Neither the suspected drunk driver, or anyone else in the area, was hurt in the crash. Police have not released the driver's name or said if they will face any charges.
