Suspected Drunk Diver Causes Deadly Wreck In East Dallas

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A car crash near White Rock Lake in Dallas left a woman dead and an accused drunk driver behind bars. The multi-vehicle wreck happened shortly before 11:00 p.m. late Monday night when a car blasted through a red light at the intersection of Garland Road and Buckner Boulevard.

Authorities said that the driver of that car slammed into the passenger side of another car, creating an explosion of wreckage around the intersection, in front of Casa Linda Plaza. The struck car was sent spinning clockwise, hitting a third vehicle before coming to a rest.

A woman was trapped in the mangled wreckage of the first car that was hit. She had been sitting on the passenger side while her husband was driving. First responders worked to remove the woman, and she was transported to Baylor Medical Center at Dallas. She was later pronounced dead.

That woman has since been identified as 56-year-old Minya Paulson. Officials explained that Paulson's husband was also hurt during the crash, but his injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

Meanwhile, the driver of the car that went through the red light did not seem to be hurt at all. He was questioned at the scene and taken to jail, believed to be under the influence of alcohol. Damondrae Garner has since been charged with intoxication manslaughter. Officers at the scene said that they found an open bottle of red wine in the 25-year-old man's car.
