Suspect Named In Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD Employee Murder
CARROLLTON (CBSDFW.COM) - After finding the dead body of a Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District employee inside a bus barn late Wednesday night, police have now identified the person they believe is responsible for the murder.
Thursday evening Carrollton police said they are "actively" looking for Gerardo Rodriguez Alvarez.
Police said they were led to the 36-year-old by evidence found at the scene and information gathered during the investigation.
An arrested warrant has been issued for Alvarez, who is described as a Hispanic male, standing 6'2" and weighing 190 pounds. He has brown hair, is slightly balding, and has brown eyes. The suspect was last seen driving a beige-colored 1997 Mercury Cougar. The Texas license plate on the vehicle is - DC5-J438.
The body of Todd Edward Fenton wasn't positively identified until Thursday morning. Law enforcement officials confirmed the 48-year-old employee had been shot. Fenton had worked as a groundskeeper for the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD for 15 years.
"We are so sad," said we appreciate the years that he gave to us," said Angela Shelley, with CFBISD media relations. "We appreciate the years that he gave to us."
Police did not say if Fenton knew Alvarez or how they believe the suspect came to be at the school district's service center, in the 1500 block of Randolph Street, close to Interstate-35E.
