Texas College Shooting Suspect Caught In Plano

PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - A second suspect in the shooting at a Harris County community college was arrested early Friday in Plano, according to reports. KTRK-TV in Houston said that 22-year-old Trey Foster was taken into custody around 1:20 a.m. after being tracked to a friend's home in Plano by the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force.

Police in Plano refused to comment early Friday morning, referring all calls to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Foster did make an initial court appearance in Collin County and was being transported back to Houston, KTRK reported. He now faces two charges of aggravated assault. Investigators told KTRK that a gun used during the shooting was also recovered.

A statement from Harris County officials identified the first suspect as Carlton Berry. County spokesman Alan Bernstein said that Berry was charged with aggravated assault, but remains hospitalized with wounds suffered in the shooting. Investigators said that the incident began as a fight between two people at a Lone Star College campus in suburban Houston. A maintenance man was caught in the crossfire, and students and others were sent cowering into classrooms.

Nobody was killed during the shooting, but the volley of gunshots created fear of another campus massacre just over a month after 26 people, most of them children, were killed at a Connecticut elementary school.
