Suspect In Deadly Hit and Run Arrested

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Two days after a seven year old girl is killed in a hit and run accident, Dallas Police say they have the driver in custody.
Juan Salazar, 34, is charged with failure to stop and render aid, which is a third degree felony.

Jail records show Salazar has previously been arrested and charged with DWI, burglary, and criminal trespass.

Saturday night, seven year old Devora Lopez was crossing Northwest Highway, near Harry Hines when she was hit and killed. Her grandmother, Floresmila Alvarado, 71, was also hit.

Alvarado says she tried to pull her granddaughter to the median as a Dodge Durango barreled toward them. She says she fell forward, while Devora was thrown in the air. Alvarado says when she ran to pick the little girl up, she could tell she was already dead.
