Suspect Arrested For Setting Women On Fire
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Authorities have arrested a woman who, they said, entered a north Fort Worth convenience store and doused two women with a flammable liquid before lighting them on fire last month. Consuela Ramirez was taken into custody without incident on Tuesday in San Angelo.
The incident happened on May 20, as the two victims were playing video games inside the Buy & Save store in the 2700 block of Azle Avenue. Those victims were identified as Mercedes Bosquez and Bianca Sanchez. Police said that Ramirez approached them with a cup, and covered the girls with a liquid. The victims then erupted in flames.
Alex Hilo was working in the store at the time of the attack. "All I know is, I was making coffee and I see a bunch of fires coming," he said. "So, that's when I went and tried to help her out."
One of the victims had burns mostly contained to her back, while the other victim was in flames from the waist up. "All the top of her body, her hair, her face, everything," Hilo recalled. The convenience store worker was also injured on the hand while trying to assist the burning victims.
Investigators called this a targeted attack. Ramirez is now still sitting behind bars in San Angelo. She faces charges for aggravated assault.
