21-Year-Old Datrail Clayton Arrested In Deadly Shooting Of Dallas 13-Year-Old Malik Tyler

UPDATE: Datrail Clayton Found Guilty Of Murder For 2019 Shooting Of 13-Year-Old Bystander In Dallas

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas Police say they have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of 13-year-old Malik Tyler.

He was killed in the 9400 block of Bruton Road in the Pleasant Grove area Tuesday around 7:00 p.m. while walking home from a store.

Police identified the suspect as Datrail Clayton, 21.

He is charged with murder.  His bond is set at $500,000.

Police tell CBS 11 they are still looking for more suspects involved in the deadly shooting.

Police said Tyler, a 7th grader, was an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire of other people shooting at each other from two vehicles on Bruton Road at St. Augustine Drive.

Tyler died Tuesday night after being shot in the shoulder.

Surveillance video showed Tyler walking home with friends when gunshots were fired outside the convenience store he was walking home from.

Other store patrons are seen standing outside, when a silver vehicle speeds by.

The men run for cover.

Another man is seen getting out of a dark-colored vehicle with a gun. The man is seen rushing toward the direction of the silver car.

Tyler and the other boys were in the middle of the shooting, according to Dallas Police.

Wednesday evening, a crowd gathered around Tyler's family during a vigil in honor of the boy's memory.
