Support Growing For Fort Worth Officer Injured In Shootout

FORT WORTH (CBS 11 News) - Support for injured Fort Worth police officer Matt Pearce and his family continues to grow three days after he was shot multiple times in the line of duty.
The police department said Friday Pearce remains in critical condition.
No word if doctors have woken him from his medically-induced coma, but on Thursday, Chief Joel Fitzgerald said the officer's doctors were considering it.
Pearce has been in the intensive care unit at JPS Hospital since Tuesday after being shot while trying to serve felony warrants on Ed McIver Sr.
McIver was killed in a shoot-out with police.
His 20-year-old son, Ed McIver Jr. remains in jail on a $2 million bond for numerous charge including attempted capitol murder.
Chief Fitzgerald says he's expecting ballistics test results to return next week that will show whether McIver Jr. also shot at officer Pearce.
On Wednesday, one of the officer's friends started a GoFundMe page to raise money for him and his family.
By 4:00 p.m. Friday, the page raised $62,560.
The friend reports the family is hopeful of Pearce's progress.
Before he was shot, Pearce was set to repair his mother's fence damaged by recent storms.
Instead, the Fort Worth Police Officers Association, the Home Depot in White Settlement, and the Wedgwood Baptist Church, and others came together to put up a new fence.
They spent much of Thursday night doing that.
