Friday night provided a fantastic start to the State Fair of Texas.

Helene has weakened from a depression to a post-tropical cyclone. It will still produce thunderstorms and potential flooding over the next few days as it retrogrades and turns back north.

Upper Air: Helene will take a while to be swept northeast by the jet stream. Following this, relative high pressure will set in over the plains as the jet moves north. Models begin to diverge as we get into late next week, but overall favor a little more cloud cover and some rain chances popping back into the forecast. By next weekend, we'll want to monitor the next possible system in the Gulf and some dips in the jet stream trying to enter the plains states. As we get closer, we'll want to consider rain chances for next weekend.

For now, as we sit on the west (backside) of Helene, drier, northern flow will usher in much better air.

Seven-day forecast: Great first weekend for the State Fair of Texas. October begins next week, and temperatures will near the upper 80s to 90 by next week.
