Sunday Flooding Hits Hunt, Collin, Rockwall Counties Hard

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) — Sunday marked heavy rain, highway closures, flooding, and road damage across Hunt, Collin, and Rockwall Counties.

The downpour hit up to 8 inches in some areas.

In Rockwall, lightning knocked out power just north of Royce City. OnCor temporarily closed FM 1777 for repairs...

In Collin County, many roads are closed and homes are flooded in Josephine and Lavon. Some homeowners are blaming construction for the residential flooding on both sides of SH 78; one home in Lavon looked like this...

In Josephine, there are 30 houses that were flooded today. Water has receded, but this was the front of City Hall Sunday afternoon -- 6 inches crept inside the building...

In Wylie, the Office of Emergency Management tweeted this out: This is Hwy 66 at Brushy Creek between Royse. City and Caddo Mills...find an alternate route!!

In Hunt County, flooding also temporarily shut down Interstate 30 closed at FM 1565. The frontage road of I-30 in Royce City is several feet under water.

Rains also flooded homes, and took out the bridge at Farm to Market Road 118, about five miles north of Highway 224. No one was injured...

In Tarrant County, water from Benbrook Lake has caused flooding, and water at Joe Pool Lake is rising at the Lynn Creek Marina.
