Study: Denton Population Growing Exponentially
DENTON (CBSDFW.COM) - According to a University of North Texas study, Denton is growing at an exponential rate.
Right now Denton's population is around 119,000, but in about 20 years that number could jump to more than 200,000.
The UNT study says the city is geographically positioned to attract business and industry.
Karen Dickson of Denton Chamber of Commerce says it's critical to make sure new roads and sewers are in place to handle such growth.
"A lot of movement is taking place right now to be able to do that infrastructure and then, as the other residential developments then start moving again then those infrastructure issues will be addressed," she said
Major industry is already casting an eye toward Denton. Target, for instance, is building a new, 400,000 square foot distribution center in the city.
