Students Safe After Ferguson Educational Center Lockdown Ends

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – A lockdown at Ferguson Educational Center in Arlington lasted about an hour and half while police were engaged in a stand-off situation with a suspected bank robber outside the school.
The center houses two separate schools within its walls, Venture and Newcomer.
Venture senior Rosa Farfan said when the lockdown was put in place the students were forced to huddle underneath their desks.
Farfan added, "They were saying stay inside. He's armed and dangerous, this is for your safety", about the instructions they were getting from school administrators.
Parents were alerted of the situation via a mass text message, and many began showing up to the school in hopes of reuniting with their kids.
Ed Gonzalez, a parent of one of the students said "I was just hoping the school was okay and all the kids were alright."
When it was all over a collective sense of calm was felt across the campus and students were reunited with their parents.
Arlington ISD officials say their safety protocols were executed properly by the staff and followed by the students.
