ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - There's a traffic alert Arlington drivers need to know about this weekend! A multi-million dollar construction project will mean closures along Interstate-20.
Electronic signs were already up early Friday morning, warning drivers about the closures that will begin in the evening.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is closing I-20 at Center Street so construction crews can install bridge beams over the highway and frontage roads.
The new structures are part of a $10.4 million project that also includes a 4-lane bridge, with a sidewalk, from Center Street just north of I-20.

The eastbound main lanes of the interstate, from Matlock Road to Collins Street, will be closed Friday and Saturday night, from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. Drivers will be detoured onto the frontage road.
North and southbound Matlock Road and Collins Street, at I-20, will also be closed. Drivers will be able to cross I-20 using FM 157/Cooper Street.
There will be additional closures in the area later in the summer to complete the installation of the bridge beams.
The project slated to be complete next summer.
