Streaking UFC Fighter Cub Swanson Looks To Secure Title Shot
DALLAS, Texas (105.3 THE FAN) - Cub Swanson is perfectly comfortable with being known as a "can't miss" fighter when it comes to delivering excitement.
The #2 featherweight contender hasn't lost in three years, and he's on a six fight win streak with four of those wins coming via stoppage. Four of those fights have also been awarded either "fight of the night" or "knockout of the night", and that type of reputation has led The UFC to put him in a main event slot with confidence. Saturday night in Austin, Texas, he'll match up against another fighter with a gritty pedigree in former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar.

#3 ranked featherweight Frankie "The Answer" Edgar will be staring at Cub Swanson across the cage Saturday night, and the victor will likely emerge as the next challenger for Jose Aldo's 145 pound title. Swanson acknowledged to me that brash phenom Conor McGregor (#5, UFC) will probably try to cut in line ahead of the winner, but he plans to defeat Edgar in such a convincing fashion that it will leave The UFC no choice but to give him the title shot.
Also on the card will be a co main event featuring top ranked lightweights #7 Bobby Green and #12 Edson Barbosa, and #2 ranked flyweight Joe Benavidez taking on #13 Dustin Ortiz.
"UFC Fight Night: Edgar vs. Swanson" airs Saturday night (FOX Sports 1, 10pm ET/7pm PT) from Austin, Texas. Prelims on the card will air on FOX Sports 1 as well (8pm ET/5 pm PT), and on UFC Fight pass prior to that (7pm ET/4pm ET).
