Stranded Dallas Students Returning After Sandy
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The 13 students and three adult sponsors from Dallas who rode out Superstorm Sandy in New York City are on their way back home Friday. The group from Bishop Lynch High School have been waiting for New York airports to reopen so that they could get seats on a returning flight to North Texas, and they are now scheduled to arrive at DFW International Airport on Friday morning.
The students, along with two coach and a parent, went to New York City last week to participate in a mock trial competition. But they will be coming back to Dallas with real-life experiences about a natural disaster. Sandy forced the closure of New York area airports earlier this week, and the DFW group had been stranded in the Big Apple.
You can only imagine how happy their friends and family members will be to have the DFW students back in North Texas. CBS 11 News talked to the students via Skype, and they just wanted to assure their loved ones that they were safe. They have been staying at a hotel located near Times Square, with electricity, computers and cell phones all working.
