ARLINGTON (CBS 11 NEWS) – Thursday's severe storms provided a scary wake up call for students at Arlington Baptist College.

"I didn't know what to do. I was freaking out," said freshman Cassie Bush. "It was terrifying to wake up to."

Her roommate, sophomore Kaylee Hatfield was studying.

Both of them were trapped in their dorm room as a strong storm blew across the school.

"We see people trying to get out their rooms, but the air is sucking them... stuck in the room," recalled Kaylee.

Bush watched as her roof caved in.

"I didn't know what to do. I didn't know what was going to happen next. I didn't know if the Lord was calling me home..."

Part of the dorm's roof was ripped off destroying the building and everything the girls had inside. If that wasn't bad enough, the girls' cars and many others in the parking lot were crushed by debris from the roof.

Across town, along I-30 and Cooper, two people escaped a collapsing building.

"We saw the roof go flying off. We saw a lot of debris," said Jena Perkins, who witnessed the storm. "It came on suddenly and so quickly."

The winds were so strong, they took down a wall made of cinder blocks. The roof of a nearby business landed about 50 yards away on top of several limos in an adjacent parking lot.

"It looked like it was paper flying off," said Perkins.

With all the damage, no one was seriously hurt. One of the college's volleyball players was treated and released for cuts from broken glass.
