Storms Knock Out Power Across North Texas
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - Storms in North Texas left almost 17,000 homes and businesses without electricity.
Oncor reported the customers without service, mainly in the DFW area, following fast-moving storms on Monday night. Outages were also reported in the Waco, Wichita Falls, Brownwood and the Midland-Odessa area. Crews from Oncor worked Tuesday morning to restore power.
Authorities said that some homes in the Brownwood area suffered roof damage, along with downed trees and power lines. No injuries were immediately reported.
Some Fort Worth schools were among the locations that lost power in the storms. Southwest High School, Woodway Elementary School, the Texas Academy of Biomedical Sciences and New Lives School were all without electricity on Tuesday morning, according to the Fort Worth Independent School District. Power was also lost at South Hills High School overnight, but it has since been restored.
The number of electric customers without power has since dropped to 6,700 homes and businesses.
