Storm Leaves Behind Trail Of Damage Across North Texas
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 NEWS) - A storm that produced several tornado warnings throughout North Texas has left a trail of damage across several cities.
The storm, which produced winds approaching 80 mph at times, downed trees and caused flooding from Joshua to Dallas.
In Joshua, there was damage to a mobile home park where the winds blew trailers off their foundations. Johnson County EMS estimated damage to 40-60 homes, but no injuries were reported.
Downed trees were reported all over the area, with a huge one falling on a home Benbrook.
CBS 11 found another huge tree uprooted in front of a home in Fort Worth.
In Arlington, there was damage to buildings and downed power lines. About 35,000 customers were reported to be without power in Tarrant County at the height of the storm. That number was expected to grow.
The FAA issued a ground stop at DFW Airport due to the weather. Delays after the storm cleared were running about an hour and a half. At Six Flags Over Texas, employees and park goers were placed in shelter while the worst of the storm passed through.
The Red Cross said that DFW families had minor damage, with no need for emergency shelters in the area. After the storm, viewers and CBS 11 crews shared pictures of clear skies and rainbows.
