Stolen Head Leaves Cleburne City Heads Scratching
CLEBURNE (CBSDFW.COM) - Who would've thought a hot dog place in the middle of downtown Cleburne would turn into a theatre of the strange?
Last week, it was a missing head. "Right about during the storm his head ended up missing," Frank Garza said.
Chico, the mascot of Garza's Famous Chigo Hot Dogs in downtown Cleburne, is missing an important part, his head. "I didn't think somebody would de-capitate a mannequin." Casey Garza said.
"It couldn't have been accidentally, unless someone was trying to give him a haircut," Frank Garza said.
Frank Garza says Pancho, Chico's partner, didn't see a thing.
"I guess we should put Pancho and Chico together inside so this doesn't happen again," Casey Garza said.
Now, there's a ransom note sent to the Cleburne Time Review's Matt Smith.
"I'm kind of surprised they didn't cut letters out of a magazine and paste them to a piece of paper," Smith said.
But this wasn't a ransom for Chico's head, it was for a photo album.
Last October, someone took the old album that Casey had discovered in the attic.
"Well, it means a lot, not only to me but to the city of Cleburne just because of the history," Casey Garza said.
Photos and tin types date back to the late 1800's.
The ransom note promises the album's return if the Garza's "agree to give away 100 hot dogs on Valentine's day for FREE."
So on Valentines Day, Frank and Pancho will serve up 100 free hot dogs, mustard only. They only hope their dogged determination brings results.
The Garzas say if the old photo album is returned, this time they'll hand it over to the Cleburne Historical Society.
