Steals and Deals: Free Museum Tickets

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - High culture doesn't always have to be high dollar. If you're looking to spend your day exploring the past or analyzing art, here's your chance to do it for free.

Yes, Free!

As part of the Smithsonian Museum Day, you can get into some of the area museums for free this Saturday, Sept. 27. Smithsonian, its partners and other participating museums will open their doors to the community. To get your free tickets, log on to their website and get two free tickets.

The Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas is gearing up for the event. "We have 30 aircraft including the Apollo 7, so you can get up close and see the craft that flew to the moon," CEO Cheryl Sutterfield- Jones told CBS11 News. They have special exhibits that include World War- 2 vintage aircraft including a rare Curtiss P-40 "Warhawk".

"We're also hoping to have an Avenger Bomber, very similar to what George Bush would have been on," said Sutterfield- Jones.

On the Fort Worth side - It's the "Day In The District"

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., you can visit any museum from the list. For Free! The list includes Fort worth Museum Of Science and The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall Of Fame.

"It is a day where all the museums in the Fort Worth cultural district open their doors for free admission," said Tara Trask, Public Programming Director at the museum. "We want to thank the public for their continued support."
