Staubach And Pearson Mourn Loss Of Robert Newhouse
OXNARD, CA. (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - Former teammates and Cowboys fans are mourning the death of Robert Newhouse.
"Everybody's gonna miss him because off the field everybody loved him," said former Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach.
The former Cowboys fullback died at the age of 64, on Tuesday. He was battling heart disease.
During his 12 years with the Dallas Cowboys, Newhouse became a fan, and locker room favorite for his style of play.
"I got some great memories of Robert Newhouse -- both on the field and off the field," said former Cowboys wide reciever Drew Pearson.
He threw a touchdown pass to Golden Richards in the Cowboys Super Bowl XII victory over the Denver Broncos.
His legendary 44 inch thighs helped him earn the nickname "house", but it was his effort and attitude that earned him the respect of his teammates.
