State House Committee Hears Health Care Testimony
AUSTIN (AP) - Texas lawmakers plan to hear testimony on the implementation of new health care laws passed by the federal government and how they will affect the state.
The House Public Health Committee and the Insurance Committee is meeting at the Capitol on Monday morning. They also want to hear ideas on what new laws they should consider in 2013. The committees want to especially hear about how the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is effecting the state.
The Texas Legislature only meets in odd-numbered years, but the committees hold hearings when they are out of session.
The Republican-controlled Legislature has repeatedly complained about the changes in federal health care law. Lawmakers will certainly take the opportunity to complain about federal health care mandates placed on the state.
