State Bar Annual Meeting Includes Mock Oswald Trial
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The annual meeting of the State Bar of Texas is underway in Dallas and this afternoon's events include "The Trial of Lee Harvey Oswald." Today's mock trial is being held to mark the 50th anniversary of the assassination of JFK.
Taking part in the trial that never took place will be the Honorable Sarah Saldaña, the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, on behalf of the prosecution. Attorney Toby Shook will represent the defense and Judge Martin Hoffman, of the District Court of Dallas County, will preside over the proceedings.
The mock trial will only be two hours long. "The actual trial would have taken two or three months." said Judge Hoffman.
Over 40 exhibits are expected to be used during the trail, including the Zapruder film.

The mock trial has Oswald charged with the murder of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. Attorneys are expected to argue whether or not Oswald was indeed guilty and if he acted alone.
The "Trial of Lee Harvey Oswald" will take place in the Old Criminal Courts Building.
The State Bar annual meeting kicked off Thursday and included events symposiums on ethical lawyering, defining diversity, agriculture lawyer issues and what business lawyers need to know about this year's Supreme Court cases.
The meeting of bar members wraps up with invitation only events Saturday afternoon.
