FRISCO (CBSDFW.COM) - Eleven days before the National Hockey League's February 27 trade deadline, the Dallas Stars have started making moves.

Prior to Thursday night's game against the Calgary Flames, the Stars announced they have traded defenseman Nicklas Grossman to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for two draft picks.  The Stars will receive a 2012 2nd round draft pick and a 2013 3rd round selection from the Flyers.

The trade gives the Stars flexibility moving forward.  Grossman is due to become a free agent after this season.  The team signed defenseman Alex Goligoski to a 4-year contract in January.  They also have veteran defenseman Trevor Daley under contract through 2017 and Stephane Robidas through 2013.
