Stars Give Daley A Six-Year Extension
FRISCO (Sports Network) - The Dallas Stars inked defenseman Trevor Daley to a six-year contract extension worth $19.8 million on Wednesday.
The deal will pay the 27-year-old Toronto native $3.5 million for the first four years, then $3.1 million in the fifth year and 2.7 million in the final year of the pact.
"Trevor is a big part of our team and an important member of our blue line," said Stars general manager Joe Nieuwendyk. "We expect him to continue to develop and grow as he takes an even bigger role on our team. We are pleased to have him under contract for another six seasons."
The Stars made Daley a second-round pick and the 43rd overall choice of the 2002 draft. After a junior career with Sault Ste. Marie of the Ontario Hockey league, he broke into the NHL with Dallas during the 2003-04 season. All told, he has played 453 regular-season games with the Stars, posting 28 goals with 86 assists.
Daley was given a three-year contract worth $6.9 million following the 2007-08 season.
