Stars Fire Head Coach Marc Crawford

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The Dallas Stars fired head coach Marc Crawford Tuesday after leading the team to two consecutive seasons without making the playoffs.

Crawford's record with the Stars was 79-60-25 and he led the team a ninth place finish in the Western Conference this year.

The Stars finished two points out of the playoffs and would have been the eighth seed if they could have beat the Minnesota Wild Sunday.

"I would like to thank Marc for the hard work he provided to the Dallas Stars over the last two seasons," said general manager Joe Nieuwendyk. "We wish him the best in the future."

Crawford won a Stanley Cup in 1996 as head coach of the Colorado Avalanche. He also coached with the Vancouver Canucks and Los Angeles Kings before coming to Dallas during the 2009-2010 season.
